Good Karma Network Weekly Update 2/13/12

Happy Valentine’s Day!

Don’t forget to make those dinner reservations! I’m keeping my calendar open for all those lovely ladies who are lining up to be my Valentine. If someone could just tell me where that darn line is…

So, the big news is that I landed not one, not two, but THREE audiobooks! It’s the “Jump 225” trilogy of sci-fi audiobooks written by David Louis Edelman.

“Infoquake” is the first of three and I start narrating this week. We are most pleased!

ANNOUNCEMENT

My next Edge Studio Business and Money 201 class is this Thursday, February 16 at 8PM. The subject: Rates, Negotiating, and Invoicing. I hope you can make it!

There has been a recent flurry of casting notices on the Good Karma Network, which is awesome! That is how I envisioned the GKN to work when I created it, so it makes me very happy that it’s being used as intended.  BTW you don’t have to ask me permission to post your notices, just post them! Dat’s how I designed it, yo.

To make a good casting notice on the GKN, here are some, dare I say, tips…?

TIP OF THE WEEK

When posting, please include the following…

  1. Name of the project

  2. Union or Non-Union

  3. Indicate if it’s VO, On-Camera, Print, Production, etc.

  4. Length of the Project

  5. Rate of Pay

  6. Date of Production

  7. Submission Guidelines, including Deadline

  8. Contact Information (phone and/or email address)

And no, it doesn’t have to be an entertainment/media industry-related job. We have many non-industry members here a the GKN and your participation is strongly encouraged.

I’d also appreciate it if you post whether you submitted for the project and if you got the gig. We want to see success stories!

QUOTE OF THE WEEK

Hope has two beautiful daughters. Their names are anger and courage; anger at the way things are, and courage to see that they do not remain the way they are. St. Augustine

STUFF

Needless to say (but I’ll say it), please don’t post anything sexual, religious, political, or just plain weird. You guys have been very good about this over the years and I sincerely thank you for keeping it that way!
