GKN Weekly Update 10/29/12 – Voice Talent In NJ + Hurricane Sandy = ???

This is Tom Dheere reporting live from ****Storm 2012! We have battened down the hatches around here and stocked up on all of the inclement-weather survival essentials: booze and Halloween candy.

BTW thanks to those of you who wrote such nice emails in response to my Quarterly Newsletter. If you didn’t get it, here it is.

So, Hurricane Sandy is supposed to make landfall sometime soon around the Atlantic City area, which is about 2 1/2 hours south of me in Parsippany. That’s the good news. The bad news is that when those lovely counter-clockwise bands of fun start whipping around, we’re gonna get rocked. Wind damage? Feh! Flooding? Pah! Power loss? Oh crap, how do I record…?

So here’s where I stand with that:

I live in an apartment so, no generator.

My laptop can hold a charge for about an hour.

My phone can last for about two days.

My car charger broke on the way to FaffCon last week (boo, hiss!)

What to do?

TIP OF THE WEEK: Well, I don’t remember where I got it from or who gave it to me, but a few days ago I found in the trunk of my car a car charger with a USB port!!! That means I can hook it up to my MicPort Pro & laptop and I’m good to go. If you have a mobile recording setup, get your hands on one of these. It will save your bacon!

QUOTE OF THE WEEK: To do just the opposite is also a form of imitation. Georg Christoph Lichtenberg

STUFF!: On a lighter note, I went to a great Halloween party on Saturday night. I reprised the role of Crash MacLarson of the Aquabats.

That’s me on the right next to my pal Jim. I had do some emergency surgery on my belt because I lost ten pounds since the last time I wore it!

To everyone in my neck of the woods; be safe, keep your head low, and I’ll see you on the other side!

From Tom’s soon-to-be-deluged apartment, this is Tom Dheere; GKN News…
