GKN Weekly Update 12/19/11

(sniff, sniff…)

Can you smell that? Nutmeg, freshly wrapped presents, cheek-to-cheek-kisses from your aunt in Schenectady…? It’s the holidays, baby!!! They are almost here and I am stoked, oh so stoked. I have already gotten some amazing gifts and I want to share them with you…

First off, I am going to be a speaker at VOICE 2012! VOICE is the biggest voiceover convention going and it will be held in Anaheim, CA next year. I am going to talk about Goals & Action Plans and I am freaking out, man! I’ve never been to California (I know, right?) and this will be my first VOICE conference so I have no idea what to expect. If you have any insight or fun stories to share about VOICE, please do! Also, if you are a California friend, get in touch so we can make plans to get together…

Here’s another great gift I received: I am now a coach for Edge Studio! Once a month I will teach a Business and Money 201 course for Phase 3 and Phase 4 voiceover students. My first webinar will be Thursday, December 29th at 8PM. I hope you can attend!

I also got the gift of new friends! I met some wonderful people at MarCom this past Tuesday at Mayfair Farms in West Orange, NJ. There was a great turnout and I made some great connections that I hope will last for years to come.

TIP OF THE WEEK: The cliche is “Give and you shall receive”. When I went to FaffCon a few months ago, I really wanted to make a contribution to the event. I figured that by sharing some of my successes & failures when it comes to setting goals, at least I could hope to help others avoid some of my more spectacular blunders. I had no idea that that one little seminar would turn into TWO amazing opportunities at Edge Studio and VOICE 2012. Give and you shall receive, my friends. Give and you shall receive…

QUOTE OF THE WEEK: Planning without action is futile. Action without planning is fatal. Anonymous (Thanks to Scott D’agstonio for supplying the quote!)

STUFF!: Here is a gift from you that would really warm my cockles: join my Facebook Fan Page! Starting next year I will be merging my Facebook personal profile with my fan page. That means I will be paring down my friends list considerably and keep friends, family, and a few cherished colleagues from both past and present. PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE don’t take it personally if I ask you to migrate to my Fan Page and thanks for your help.
