GKN Weekly Update 3/28/11

Happy 87th Day of 2011! Man, I’m reachin’…

Lately I’ve been mentioning that Project: T.E.R.R.A.  has gotten back on track. For you new GKN’ers, Project: T.E.R.R.A. is a sci-fi epic adventure that we are producing as a comic book. When I say we, I mean 3ative Productions (Angelo Panetta, David Martin, and myself). Since we live in different countries, we needed to come up with a way to communicate easily and work on the same “drawing board” at the same time. To that end, we collaborate via Skype (a free online conference call system) and Google Docs so we can look at and edit the same document at the same time. This is an amazing way to hold meetings and share ideas!

TIP OF THE WEEK: If you don’t use Skype or Google Docs, I strongly recommend them. Skype works as a great phone patch for VO talent who have clients that want to listen in on a home recording session. It also has IM, video chat, and even games! With Google Docs, you can upload documents of all kinds and people can edit a document in real-time. And what’s even better is that both are free!

QUOTE OF THE WEEK: The right thing to do isn’t always the fun thing to do. Anonymous

STUFF!: I saw two great movies last week: Across The Universe and Forgetting Sarah Marshall. A little late, I know, but worth the wait!
