Voiceovers And Comic Books – The GKN Weekly Update 4/28/15

Hello and Happy Batman Day and Free Comic Book Day! Pretty geek-tastic, right?

NEWS AND NOTES!

Speaking of Free Comic Book Day, our comic “Agent 1.22” will release next month! We are getting pretty excited and hope you are, too. We’d love it if you go to our Agent 1.22 Facebook Page and do the Like/Share/Comment thing.

I love marketing,

Not just the science and the tactics, but the philosophy and the psychology.

So what exactly is marketing anyway?

Definition-of-Marketing-2

The dictionary defines it as:

“the action or business of promoting and selling products or services, including market research and advertising.”

That’s nice, but what does that mean? More importantly, what does that mean to you?

At this stage of my life, I have three marketing “hats” that I wear at any given time: as a consumer, a voice talent, and a comic book producer.

As a consumer, I know how I like to be marketed to and where. If I don’t like it, I can just change the channel/radio station, flip the page, or go somewhere else on the internet.

As a voice talent, I strive to engage potential and current clients via phone calls, snail mail, email, social media interaction, and more.

As a comic book producer with a soon-to-be-released title, I’m trying to find our audience and determine their age, gender, reading habits, spending habits, and preferred social media platform.

TIP OF THE WEEK: After many years of trying to craft and disseminate a message to potential consumers & clients and many more years of being marketed to, I think marketing boils down to three things:

  1. Find your audience

  2. Create quality content

  3. Engage with your audience in a compelling and consistent manner

And exactly how do you do that? Your audience, content, and forms of engagement can and often do change almost daily so you need to adapt and innovate constantly. That’s why it’s so damn hard!

QUOTE OF THE WEEK:

STUFF!: I finished watching Boyhood last week. When I say finished, I mean I had a to take a break for a few days and find time to watch the rest of it because it’s almost three hours long. Yes, it’s been universally acclaimed and the project in itself is remarkable but in 2 hours and 44 minutes, basically nothing happened. While I did enjoy it in certain ways, it was also pretty darn tedious. Just sayin’.

From Tom Dheere’s apartment, this is Tom Dheere: GKN News…
